Marsel area is located in Chu-Sarysu basin of Kazakhstan, the area bears two main sets of reservoir,i.e.carbonate one in Carboniferous and clastic rock one in Devonian. The focus of this thesis is on the carboniferous reservoirs, which involves Visean(C1v)and Serpukhovian(C1sr)formations.The reservoirs are characterized with poor porosity permeability, and vertically superimposed, horizontally continuous distribution, thus the accurate prediction of sweet spot is crucial to high production.Consequently, this thesis carries out an evaluation of reservoir and cap rock combination and prediction of favorable target in lower Carboniferous reservoir integrating geological, well logging and seismic data on the base of ArcGIS platform. This thesis attempts to combine fuzzy set theory and GIS(Geographic Information System)to fuse the various data for the evaluation of reservoir and cap rock combination. The related geological, logging data and seismic interpretation results of the study area is collected. All these data is preprocessed and converted to shapefile format.Meanwhile,a corresponding membership function is defined for each variable, subsequently, the Gamma operation is used to fuse the data,in this way,the favorable target is finally mapped. The results shows that the west Bulak and Ortalyk regions bear favorable target both in C1 v and C1 s,and the total area of the best, good and fair favorite is 155.68 km2,155.68 km2 and 334.56 km2 respectively, while,Ortalyk, west Bulak,Tamgalytar,South-Pridorozhnia,Kendyrlik regions bear favorable target either in C1 v or C1 s with the total area of the best, good and fair favorite,2820.88 km2,745.76 km2 and 774.64 km2 respectively.
