Oil-gas exploration and development is a spatial data-intensive industry, and this spatial data involves the characteristics of large span of time and space, complex types,multi-source and large volume which make it difficult to be managed and analyzed.GIS provides powerful functions of data management and spatial analysis, while a common GIS platform is not very suitable for the management of oil-gas E&P data. Therefore this thesis attempts to design a GIS-based system for the management and analysis of above–mentioned data.A summarization of the ways and characteristics of GIS software and the different developing approach is presented in the thesis, the user needs is analyzed.Subsequently, the types and characteristics of oil – gas E &P spatial data is discussed, and a new pattern of spatial and attribute data management is designs based on object-oriented theory.According to the pattern. The attribute data is regarded as the part of spatial data attributes,in this way,the users only need to manage spatial data.An application software is developed based on ArcGIS,which he functions of the data input/output,edition,query spatial analysis. And according to characteristics of oil-gas exploration and development spatial data, the application software develops the corresponding data analysis functions. In addition, the thesis depicts the integration of AHP and TOPSIS for target selection, the corresponding module is designed and coupled seamless with the system. This application software is user-friendly and easy to operate. The software reduces the difficulty of the oil and gas exploration and development of spatial data management greatly,in addition, this system is easy to expend,so we can integrate more analysis methods into the system seamlessly.
