Turpan-Hami basin is located in the eastern part of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region,in the middle of Kazakhstan plate,Siberian plate and Tarim plate.Turpan-Hami basin is one of the largest petroliferous basins in the western of China.Since the exploration of oil and gas at the end of 1940 s,it has acquired certain exploration and production capabilities. Many oil geologist and geological scholars have conducted extensive researches on the distribution of volcanic rocks in the Upper Paleozoic in the Turpan-Hami Basin. However, the researches on the petroleum geological characteristic of Carboniferous-Permian in the Upper Paleozoic were not enough. The exploration was relatively low.Especially, the study of the set of layered reservoir-reservoir combinations and their internal reservoir types is still be needed.Based on the theory and method of petroleum geology, this paper based is on the strength of regional geological characteristics and basin drilling analysis, the Carboniferous-Permian source rock conditions, reservoir conditions, cap rock and trap types,oil-gas migration and accumulation rules of the basin were integrated. The analysis has predicted the favorable oil-gas zones in the study area. The result shows:(1)The sedimentary structure evolution of Turpan-Hami basin is controlled by the subduction of the Junggar-Turpan microplate,at the same time it is collided with the north and south plates, and then undergoes multiple stages of structural uplift to build the present structural form.(2)The strata of the study area are relatively complete mainly in the Meso-Cenozoic stratum. The formational thickness of the Carboniferous-Permian in the basin can be divided into three parts: the eastern complex change, the middle thinner area, and the western thicker area.(3)The series of source rocks are mainly the Lower Carboniferous Yamansu Formation, the Upper Carboniferous Tujiagou Formation and the Dikaner Formation, the Middle Permian Taodonggou Group and the Lower Permian Yierxitu Formation.;The reservoirs are the Upper Carboniferous Liushugou Formation carbonate rocks and volcanic rocks, and the MiddlePermian Taodonggou Group sandstones;the caprocks are mudstones and tight basalts within or between layers. The combination types of source, reservoir and cap rock aremostly bottom-source-upper-reservoir-top-cap type and the formation generates, reserves and seals oil and gas by itself. The formation of traps is mainly controlled by the fault structure and lithological distribution relations, and it mainly develops anticline oil and gas reservoirs and lithologic-structural reservoirs.(4)Reservoires in the study area are controlled by faults and combinations, trap types, lithologic combinations, and configuration relationships. The plane is mainly distributed within the Taipei sunken.Vertically, oil and gas are mainly distributed in the Upper Carboniferous-Middle Permian. There are three favorable exploration zones in the study area. The researches of this paper provided reference for the next exploration in the study area.
