Thrips are generally considered to constitute a single order of insects, the Thysanoptera. They occur in vast numbers in flowers, such that even if each individual carries only a few pollen grains, the total number delivered is more than adequate to effect pollination. Some species are serious crop pests and are usually highly adaptable and polyphagous species.Obligate predation by Thysanoptera is not particularly common, although the habit has evolved several times, and many species are facultative predators. However, there are no any reports on species of thrips in Changchun city, northeastern China.A total of 22 species in 13 genera belonging to 3 families of the order Thysanoptera were documented from Changchun, northeasteran China.Thirteen species were new recorded from Jilin Procince,China,i.e.Dendrothrips ornatus(Jablonowski,1894),Scolothrips latipennis Priesner,1950,Sericothrips houji(Chou& Feng,1990),Microcephalothrips abdominalis(Crawford,1910),Mycterothrips glycines(Okamoto,1911),Odontothrips biuncus John,1921,Odontothrips phaseoli Kurosawa,1941,Taeniothrips picipes(Zetterstedt,1828),Tenothrips frici(Uzel,1895),Thrips brunneus Ishida,1936,Thrips palmi Karny,1925,Thrips trehernei Priesner,1927 and Haplothrips subtilissimus(Haliday,1852).The keys to these genera and species were given.176 taxonomic figures were illustrated.Fauna and Zoogeographical analyses indicated the genera Haplothrips and Thrips were the dominant genus.Geographic distributions of 7 genera were Cosmopolitan,4 genera were Holarctic, and 2 genus was Old World.Surveys of flower-living thrips in different plant were conducted in Changchun city,Jilin Province,China.A total of 2228 individuals of thrips were collected in flowers, belonging to 17 species in 10 genera under 3 families. The family Thripidae was richest, including 14 species.Frankliniella intonsa(Trybom)represented 76.03%of all individuals of flower–dwelling thrips assemblage during the survey, and was the dominant species. The individuals of the ordinary groups including Thrips flavus(8.06%),Thrips palmi(5.07%),Haplothrips kurdjumovi(2.92%),Frankliniella occidentalis(2.47%)and Aeolothrips fasciatus(1.12%),together occupied 19.61% of the total. The individuals of the 11 rare species represented 4.35% of all individuals. The results showed that Frankliniella intonsa(Trybom)was the dominant species of flower-living thrips assemblage.
