China's marine resources are rich,if we can make use of renewable energy such as this kinds of marine energy, there will be unlimited potential. The vertical axis hydraulic turbine uses tidal phenomena and is widely used. The radial arm structure has the function of connecting the blade and the main shaft, and transmitting the load.It could be optimized by its structural size, making it in the protection of sufficient strength under the premise of more light, improve the turbine energy utilization conversion rate.In this paper, based on the actual size of the actual radial arm structure, the ANSYS software is used to construct the structure, the grid is intensive in some key part and the Fortran language is used to solve the change of the load of the structure with time.Using the optimization tool DesignXplorer, the wall thickness of the radial arm structure is optimized, and the model is re-modeled according to the size of the specification. The static model of the new model is analyzed, and the structural stress distribution and displacement distribution map are obtained, analyzed the degree of lightening of the optimized structure. And get the modal analysis of the new model, the ten-step mode and frequency, analyze the deformation of the various modes and determine whether the structure and the water medium will occur resonance phenomenon. And then applied to the model for a period of changed load with time, get the dynamic response analysis, the maximum stress value and the maximum stress curve and determined the location of the maximum stress and analyzed the causes and the solution. The life of the structure is estimated based on the S-N curve of the arm material and combined with the working mechanism of vertical shaft turbine, and a reasonable analysis is given for the structural structure setting.
