With the gradual advancement of the world's Ocean Strategy , people needs to have a better understanding of the ocean environment in order to exploit the marine resources and protect the ocean environment.Based on the demand of the marine study, I commenced a detail study of the ocean current movement in the east coast of the United States, the contents include:1) Introduced the design principles, the development trend, introduced materials and the functions of 7 different drifters. 2) Two Marine models, FVCOM and ROMS,are introduced, the basic equationsand, their characteristics of the two models are given in the current study. 3) Visulized the the moving trace of the floating drifter by using the collected position data of the drifter along the northeast coastline of the United states. 4) Compared the moving trace of the different drifters in the same position and time but at the different depths to study the ocean current movement at the different depth. 5) In order to analyze the two different ocean model of ROMS and FVCOM which is used to predict the ocean current , compared the drifter traces with the ocean model prediction traces. Get the distance between the predict track and real track, find ROMS is better than FVCOM. 6) In order to improve the ocean model prediction accuracy, added the wind factor of 0.3% to the drifter track to get the new distance between the drifter track and model prediction track 1. 7)At last,analyzed all experimental process and conclusion, and revealed the potential problems and put forwarded the study prospect of the current study problems.
