The existing map symbol space conflict detections mainly enlarge the geographical features in the form of buffers to form the corresponding entity features of the map symbols,and carries out the spatial conflict detection of the map symbols through the spatial geometric relation between the entity features.Moreover,the existing detection methods and the conflict detection function in the mainstream GIS software only consider the spatial relationship between the map symbols,mainly to solve the problem of overlapping symbols,semantics for the semantic inconsistency of the study less.The judgment of the conflict of map symbol space is not only influenced by the spatial relationship between map symbols,but also influenced by the geometric features of the map symbols.Based on the existing map symbol composition methods,the basic graphic parameter data model is designed,and the map symbol application ontology is established to form a formal expression of the rules of map symbols.The transformation of the geometric feature to map symbol entity has been completed actually,and the semantic relation judgment are carried out combined with the spatial relation judgment to realize the accurate detection of the spatial conflict of the map symbols.This paper mainly deals with the following aspects:(1)According to the current academic frontier,the concept of map symbol space conflict and the background of the conflict and the current research situation are analyzed,and the main problems of the present research are pointed out.The building of map symbol application ontology has been carried out to detect map symbol space conflict by the combination of spatial relation and sematic relation.(2)Describes the meaning of the application ontology of map symbol,and corresponds to the content of the map symbol ontology according to the structure of speech,language and semantics according to linguistics.Based on the analysis of the existing map symbol composition methods,the basic graphic parameter data model is designed.The map symbol of the basic scale map is 1:50 000,and the map symbol and the combination of the basic graphic are used to complete the map symbol Application ontology build,and to ACCESS database for storage.(3)A semantic-based map symbol spatial conflict detection model is established.Based on the conclusion of unreasonable relationships between the map symbols,the calls of the ontology and the map symbol conflict rules is used to detect the relationship.After the conflict is detected guiding the handle of conflict with the map symbol weight value.The conflict has been confirmed and displayed.(4)A semantic-based map symbol space conflict detection prototype system experiment is carried out.Based on the model and method described in this paper,a semantic-based map symbol spatial conflict detection experiment system is designed and implemented.The data of Hainan in scale of 1:50 000 is the experimental data,which mainly realizes the four key functions of symbolization of the basic geographic information data,map symbol space conflict detection,map symbol shift judgment and conflicting display expression,and completes the application of map symbol application ontology in the map symbol space conflict detection.
