The linea alba(Latin, white line)is a fibrous structure that runs down the midline of the abdomen in humans and other vertebrates. It is formed by the fusion of the aponeuroses of the abdominal muscles, and it severs as the connecter and protecter of tissues and organs. It links liver which plays a major role in metabolism with numerous functions through falciform ligament.Research shows that linea alba contains numerous free radicals and is both relevant to free radicals and electro-physiological signals. In this study, the relationship of free radicals and the linea alba was investigated by the following 3 steps,as well as the relationship of linea alba and the hepatic oxidative stress. The free radical tracer agent, dichlorofluorescin diacetate(DCFH-DA),was applied by tail vein injection and local smearing respectively to investigate the free radicals distribution in the linea alba of SD rats;Several connection of the excised frontal interior abdominal wall and the rats was used to analyze the transmission character of the free radicals in the linea alba; The morphological appearance of the liver was observed and 7 physiological parameters were detected to estimate the effects of linea alba on physiology; The voltage and current of the linea alba in the various status of hepatic oxidative stress was measured to investigate the relationship of hepatic oxidative stress and electrical properties of linea alba.In the experiment,it was proved that the linea alba of rats can gather or transmit free radicals. In all connection ways of connecting excised frontal interior abdominal wall and its body,it was the only way for the linea alba to transmit free radicals that the linea alba connects its body as it ought to be,proving that the linea alba transmit free radicals oriented. The rats in the biochemistry experiments is divided into 7 groups:control group(CG),blocking cranial end of linea alba group(UG),blocking caudal end of linea alba group(DG),blocking cranial end of linea alba with wire connection group(UWG),blocking caudal end of linea alba with wire connection group(DWG),blocking falciform ligament group(FG),blocking falciform ligament with wire connection group(FWG).In UG,MDA content and SOD activity in liver were significantly increased,ALT activity in plasma was also increased, while AST/ALT was decreased. In DG,LDH and AST activity in plasma were significantly increased,AST/ALT in 1h was increased. In UWG,LDH,SOD,AST and ALT activity of liver were significantly increased, total protein content of liver was significantly decreased. In UWG,SOD activity of liver and LDH and ALT of plasma were significantly increased,AST/ALT was increased in 1h and decreased in 2h.In FG,MDA content and LDH,AST and ALT activity of liver were significantly increased as well as the LDH activity in plasma. In electrophysiology experiments, under normal condition, the voltage of linea alba ranged from 70 mV to 180 mV,the frequency was 4-6 Hz,the amplitude is about 0.2 mV;Voltage value was the only difference between the electricity of linea alba and electrocardio; The current of linea alba varied from 0.2?A to 1.2 ?A.The current change of linea alba was the only factor related to hepatic oxidative stress. The current increaseed up to 3 ?A when saline was dropped to liver. The fluctuation range of current of linea alba was almost the same in slightly hepatic oxidative stress. But the rate of descent of current increased with the concentration of H2O2 raised, but also reduced the time to reach stead state. The current of linea alba presented a disorder status in severely hepatic oxidative stress. In summary, when liver is in oxidative stress status, not only do the free radicals travel trough the linea alba by electron, but also blocking the linea alba in different position results in different effects. This conclusion provide a new perspective of studying the physiological function of the linea alba and the connective tissue,as well as the physiological effects related to free radicals.
