Born in the 1980 s, the complexity science is a new form of "inter-disciplinary" scientific research method, aiming to explain the formation and evolution of complex system. Its rise and development, not only expands the boundaries of scientific research, but also adds a new understanding for our understanding of nature and of the community. This essay stands on Marx's practical materialism standpoint, using historical analysis, coherent thinking and inter-disciplinary research ideas, to explore discipline characteristic of complexity science and its impact, the research approach of complexity study, and the three main methods of exploring complexity. The results are both expected and unexpected.Because science progresses with the change of research methods, this article centers on "coherent thinking", and discusses the disciplinary characteristics, research approach as well as three main methods of exploring complexity. By exploring the rise, the status quo, the framework of complexity science and its social impact, we summed up that the complexity science is the knowledge about the method, with coherent thought and inter-disciplinary characteristics. It marked the rise of the generation of a new paradigm, which reflects a new spirit of the times- the world is not "aggregate of things," but in the inner contact constantly generated " assembly of processes." This article explains the reason for the complexity of the study follow the idea of mastery level determined by "hierarchy" This caused a deep ontological, advocated "non-linear thinking and interdisciplinary research" combined, demonstrated in exploring complex of the process is necessary to "understand" but also to "deal with", adhere to the practice advocated Priority position, with "technical understanding" can be effective to solve a variety of complex issues, the use of current technology may be big data implementation complexity science a better form of thought. The author is convinced that despite the long way of the complexity scientific research, the rapid development of computer and network technology, the complexity science and big data technologies will be increasingly interchanged, and attracts more young scholars to research in this field.In short, complexity science as a new form of scientific ethos containing the current nascent, belongs to the same scientific paradigm as big data technologies- complexity paradigm. In this sense, the transformation from simplicity science to complexity science reflects the change of two different philosophies. That is, "from the old materialism entity ontology philosophy, to the “deep generative theory” that is based on internal connections and historical development of things. This change highly fits the Marxist "Practical Materialism" in terms of temperament and the conclusions. However, since this scientific revolution spans a long time, is of complexity, covers a wide field, and brings profound change of ideas, it is beyond the capacity of the author. So that errors and shortcomings in the article are inevitable, and it is much appreciated that fellow scholars could raise suggestions.
