Frequency selective surface is a 2-dimensional periodic array, which causes the selective effect on incident electromagnet wave, performing transmission or reflection results on specific frequency. Its frequency selective characteristic determines that the FSS has a very wide range of applications. In this paper, based on the FSS already fabricated in the laboratory according to the certain design target, the difference in engineering applications and laboratory test is analyzed, and the problem in machining process has carried by the theoretical analysis and field testing, according to which design suggestions have been proposed on the application of curved FSS. Besides, the design of multiband ultrathin radar absorber and ultra-wideband ultra-thin radar absorber has been made according to different operating environment and conditions, based on the RCS reduction application of FSS.This paper is divided into three parts. The first part contains the first and second chapters, in which research background and applications is introduced, the domestic and foreign research status and development trends in recent years are analyzed in aspects of limited curved FSS,3D, and the RCS reduction. Besides, operating principle of FSS,Floquet theorem and its physical meaning are expounded.The second part is chapter three, which introduces four sorts of curved FSS and its testing difference between engineering applications and laboratory tests. After that,theoretical and reason analysis of problems in processing has been made.The third part is chapter four. In this chapter, the design of the multiband absorbing FSS and ultra-wideband ultra-thin absorbing FSS has been made according to different operating environment and conditions, based on the application of FSS on RCS reduction,after which parameters and operating principle have been analyzed.
