This paper originates from the Project of National Natural Science Fundation of China “Study of Geogas field of Buried geological body and Fault”(project number: 41074094) and Project of Geological Survey Institute of Nuclear industry of Hubei Province,“Geogas prospecting exploration area of a uranium”.Providing the scientific basis for further prospecting is the goal of this paper in this exploration area, Carrying out geogas prospecting applied research in this exploration area.According to the basis of good metallogenic geological condition and radioactive anomalies of surface was found by geologist in the early time, a total of 10 survey lines and four regions were setted up. In the 10 survey lines we had completed 615 survey points of the geogas and X fluorescence.In total,we got 23985 data of detection of geogas and 21525 data of of X fluorescence.According to the data, a total of 13 geogas anomaly were divided.This paper began with the geogas anomaly that was above of the known ore bodies in the exploration area,Studying on characteristic of element combination,characteristic of distribution of rare earth elements,characteristic of multivariate statistical, characteristic of spatial distribution of the geogas anomaly that the ore caused and characteristic of the X-ray fluorescence anomalies that followed geogas anomaly.Summarizes the characteristic of the geogas anomaly that the ore caused is that Anomalies has a certain relationship with structure o-f owning ore, Anomalies is on one side of lean of on the above of fault, Anomalies has a relationship with the vertical projection of concealed uranium d-eposit,light rare earth is more enricher than heavy rare earth in the geogas abnormal section,it shown that Ce element is serious loss, Rb, Sr, Y, Cs, rare ear-th(La-Lu), Pb elements is abnormal or high value,U/Th contrast ratio is high value,apart from this,in geogas anomaly section and its adjacent section that the ore caused accompany with U Al, Ce, Pb, Ti elements is abnormal or high value of X fluorescence of soil, and U/Th contrast ratio and U/K contrast ra--tio is also high value.In addition, there are a specific characteristic of multiva r-iate statistics in Geogas anomaly section.Regarding characteristic of geogas anomaly that the ore caused as sign that geogas prospect concealed uranium deposits, in this paper 13 geogas anomaly sections had be evaluated on four measured areas. Finally, it is pointed out that focus region and direction of prospecting ore and prospecting in the further on the exploration area.The result of research shows that the detection of geogas can obtain information of mineralization elements underground hundreds of meters depth, solved the problem that the traditional radioactive geophysical prospecting can not solve. This type of concealed uranium deposits in the study area, which exists in the granite in fault. Fault provides the pathway for it, so elements in soil that associated with uranium is anomaly above the fault and its adjacent areas, it provides the basis of geological to carry out soil detection of X-ray fluoresc e-ence.and abnormality of the soil X-ray fluorescence can provide help to explain nature of the geogas anomality, enhance accuracy and reliability interpretati-on of the geogas anomality.
