Because of high mobility, high transparency and reflection, the traditional projection fringe method and the Fourier transform method can not measure the three-dimensional shape and deformation of the transparent object. At the same time, the experimental evidence for the micro-crack and crystal dislocation theory is very little, because the observation tools must be guaranteed with high resolution and the measurement tools must have ability to characterize micro/nano-scale deformation. It is a very challenging work.On the basis of introduction of the one-dimensional and two-dimensional sampling moire method, in this paper, the numerical simulation and translation experiments were performed to verify the measurement accuracy and error compensation of the sampling moire method. It revealed that the accuracy of the two-dimensional sampling moire method is higher. At the same time, the basic optical configurations of the sampling moire method were proposed for the shape measurement of transparent and opaque objects. Experiments showed that the sampling moire method can be used to measure the shape of transparent and opaque objects, and has the same accuracy with the phase-shifting method and Fourier transform method. The curing deformation behavior of epoxy droplets, the thermal deformation behavior in the interface of carbon fiber/epoxy resin, the fracture behavior of single crystal Si, and the dislocation deformation behavior of single crystal Au were studied by using the sampling moire method. The curing 3D-shape, interfacial thermal deformation, crack tip and dislocation deformation field were obtained. The experimental results is not only useful to provide the experimental data for the relevant theoretical research, but also validate the application feasibility of the sampling moire method. It shows that the method is suitable for the deformation analysis from mm, urn to nm at different scales and has advantages of non-contact, high speed and low cost.
