The Hainan provice has become the international tourism island in 2008,it has booming the development of construction industry,but the environment has suffered greatly,and the type of rainfall landslid occurs frequently at the central regions of Hainan province.So,the article is based on the ecological slope protection,taking the red clay and rubber tree roots of Hainan as the research object.We have been conducted the related mechanics test of red clay and tree roots,exploring the slope resistance effect of tree roots in shallow landslide,and the roots deformation when conducted the experiments.Aims to study the mechanics of slope protection with tree roots,truly applied bio-technoly to slope protection.For better indoor model test,the author designed the the complex cascading large root soil direct shear apparatus,it could simulate the difference depth of sliding surface with tree roots.The test red clay soil come from Hainan provice,the roots also digged from Hainan province,obtained the relevant mechanical parameters by conducted different mechanic experiments.on the base of cascading large complex root soil direct shear apparatus,Conducted the shear experiment in different shear plane of red clay,single root-soil composit system,double roots-soil composite sytem,and four roots-soil composite system,obtained the relationship of different number of roots,the range of roots and the diameter of roots to the soil strength.And obtained the deformation character of roots in different shear plane,obtained the deformation in the process of shear.Test results show that the existence of the roots can imrove the shear strength in different shear plane.The root position,number and diameter could influence the strength of root-soil composit system,shear strength of root-soil composit system has'n positive correlation with root content.The deformation of roots in shear plane were the biggest,the other measure point tend to be zero.The deformation of roots also can be influenced greatly by the range of roots in the soil,the deformation of paralle root were the same at the different shear plane,but the pre-and-post roots were difference,and the diversity of pre-and-post roots can be changed by the shear plane.Comprehensive analysis shows that the root stable into the layer have the effect of anchorage,the existence of the root system significantly increased the soil shear strength,it has positive influence to slowdown the small shallow landslide destoryed.Root quantity and the growth situation of roots makes the stability of the slope with different coefficients.Combined with the existing article we can know that the root of herbaceous with small diameter can reinforce the soil,improving the shear strength of soil that contained the roots.Therefore,for better reinforcing the slope with vegetables,it is necessity to make use of varities of vegetables,so as to prevent shallow landslides.
