In recent years, with the increasing aging population, osteoporosis attracts more and more attention as the number of people with osteoporosis is arising. Currently, as no suitable drug or method can cure osteoporosis, precaution and early detecting becomes particularly important. An important research direction of medical and scientific is to diagnose osteoporosis accurately as early as possible.Ultrasound bone mineral density measurement has some parameter indicator, like SOS and BUA, but most instruments on the market has the problem of low accuracy and low efficiency. A bone mineral density acquisition system with high performance is designed in this research. The innovative achievements we have gained are shown below:1. With the concept of modular design, the acquisition system is divided into 6 parts:transmitting circuit, receiving circuit, A/D circuit, SRAM, FPGA and USB2.0 data transmission. The accuracy of measurement is improved by using MAX1449, which working under the 100MHZ and has a 10-bit analog-to-digital converter feature, and the detection efficiency is improved by using FT232H, which get 40MB/s for data transmission.2. USB data transmission is designed to communicate the acquisition system with the software system in PC. It makes the acquisition system applicable to a variety of platforms, including PC and embedded systems such as Android.3. FPGA software modules are designed in bone mineral density acquisition system. These modules not only realize the whole data collection process, but also can adjust the width of high voltage pulse for different frequency of the probe and the measured parts.
