Lightning is a kind of extremely dangerous natural disaster, directly threatening to the safety of human life and property. At present, the research for monitoring and forecasting of lightning disaster has been developed by the relevant department of our country, constructing a certain scale lightning detection network. On account of the background, in orde to provide reliable and effective data circulation and sharing service, and reveal the movement and development characteristics of lightning, this thesis develops the research of monitoring data transmission and location data visualization in lightning detection network, laying the foundation for forecasting lightning disaster.This paper takes the research of lightning detection network architecture as a starting point from which to make clear the study of data transmission and location data visualization. This research is according to the basic characteristics of lightning detection network, proposing hierarchical model of lightning detection network structure; guided by the thought of absolute concentration and grading treatment, the cluster-type networking architecture oriented local area network and the hierarchical networking architecture oriented large area coverage is designed; based on the networking characteristics of lightning detection station and the requirement of data transmission, transport layer protocol and application layer protocol is discussed; from the two viewpoint data integration and application service to analysis business layer in hierarchical model, the scheme that by Com GIS technology to realize the application service of visualization on lightning location data is proposed.In view of the characteristics of observation data that is sudden and mass, and the demand that monitoring data is supposed to be interacted stably and reliably, the design of data transmission in lightning detection network is conducted from the two aspects that is observation data transmission and monitoring data transmission. The TFTP based on slide window for observation data transmission is designed, which applies port demultiplexing to realize tasks concurrency and thread pool technology to complete the scheduling of concurrent tasks, with sliding window to control the process of datasending and receiving between client and server, combining with broken-point continuingly-transferring, therefore observation data is transferred reliably and efficiently under complex lightning network. The scheme of monitoring data transmission based on TCP is raised, which ultilizes two-way heartbeat mechanism to maintain stable connection between server and client, with devising custom socket class to attain client dynamic connection management and reliable transmission of monitoring data. Real application testing suggests that this design provide monitoring data transmission service of high reliability, good stability and substantial efficiency for lightning network. The design of visualization on lightning location data combines database technology, Com GIS technology and the thought of object-oriented programming, on the basis of Oracle database to manage and share data, based on the Visual C#.Net development platform, using the component development technology of Arc GIS Engine, the functional design that includes multi-mode data query, multi-dimensional data display and multi angle data analysis is completed, accordingly lightning location data is visualized intuitively and vividly.
