Study On China-Asean Free Trade Area Under The Background Of 21st-Century Maritime Silk Road

The accelerated development of economic globalization and further cross-border cooperation are taking place in the world. In order to maximize access to the benefits of globalization and avoid the impact of changes in the economic structure, the major economies make efforts to build economic groups which are in favor of their own development. China is facing severe and complicated international situation, the establishment of free trade area has become the best choice for China. While 21st-century Maritime Silk Road as the emerging economic and trade cooperation mechanism integrates the comprehensive and diversified cooperation system into the development of China-ASEAN Free Trade Area(CAFTA),which is conductive to building upgraded version of CAFTA. This paper focuses on the development of CAFTA under the background of 21st-century Maritime Silk Road, and proposes reasonable policy recommendations. In the new era, research subject in this paper has important practical significance.This paper is divided into five chapters. The first chapter introduces the background and significance of the research topic. In second part, it introduces the concept of free trade area, and then expounds the theoretical basis of FTA construction on the basis of static and dynamic comparative advantage theory, unbalanced growth theory and the theory of location advantage. In the third chapter, this paper using the combined method of static analysis and dynamic analysis mainly analyzes the status of CAFTA, focusing on four aspects of trade which including trade in goods, service trade, trade dependency and the scale of investment. This chapter also discusses the achievements and existing problems in the development of CAFTA. In the fourth chapter, this paper introduces the strategy of 21st-century Maritime Silk Road, including the process of strategy proposed, planning, features and so on. Then, this chapter also points out the positive impacts of 21st-Century Maritime Silk Road on creating upgraded version of CAFTA. After analyzing difficulties faced by CAFTA, the last part in this paper put forwards concrete policy recommendations on how to seize the opportunity of the construction of 21st-century Maritime Silk Road to accelerate trade exchanges in CAFTA. This paper through relative research concludes that 21 st-Century Maritime Silk Road will further improve the content and agreements of CAFTA in many fields of economic, transport, cultural, financial and service. It could be expected that 21st-century Maritime Silk Road will promote CAFTA to quickly complete the upgrade, and provide inexhaustible motive force for long-term cooperation and development of trade between China and ASEAN.
