Yan’an Sustainable Ability Research

Since the 20 th century, humankind partially emphasized the economic development during the process of industrialization, which has brought in a great number of developmental issues, including resource exhaustion and environmental deterioration. In order to face these challenges, a series of measures have been taken at the United Nations and the national level. Yan’an witnessed a severe decrease in the development of gross domestic product(GDP). Does it mean that the ability of Yanan ’ s sustainable development could be impaired even weakened under this condition? Based on these backgrounds information, it would be of great practical significance for the studies and assessments on the potential capability of sustainable development of Yan’an.In this paper, we mainly investigated the ability of sustainable development in Yan’an and firstly made an elaboration about some theories related to the sustainable development of cities at home and abroad based on the theory as well as social practice associated with sustainable development. We then analyzed and accessed Yanan ’ s sustainable developmental ability that influenced by some factors, such as merits and drawbacks, opportunity and challenge appeared in the process of city construction,through applying strengths weaknesses opportunities threats analysis. Combined with two analytical methods, the analysis hierarchy process(AHP) and principal component analysis(PCA), an index system was set up to evaluate the sustainable developmental capability of Yan’an from the economics, society, environment and some comprehensive aspects. Finally, some suggestions for the future construction and further development of Yan’an were carried out based on our research results and data analysis.Major contents of this study were listed as follows:First part, introduction, described the background, research significance, references,main body contents, methods and the possible innovation of this study.Secondary part presented the contents of city sustainable development and analyzed the positive and negative factors that influence the sustainable development of Yan’an.In the third part, the sustainable developmental capability of Yan’an was analyzed from the economic, society, environment and some comprehensive aspects by adopting the index system that was used to evaluate the ability of sustainable development. Based on the achievements of Yan’an in recent 10 years, there were so many improvements in every field of the sustainable developmental capability in Yan’an. While, according to the viewpoint of developmental coordination, the sustainable development ability of environment was not better than that of economic.Fourth part was constructed in accordance with the previous study results and some advice and measurements were put forwarded to tackle the problems which appeared in the process of the sustainable development in Yan’an. The Yan’an government should hold the thoughts that capacity of sustainable development need to be built in comprehensive and coordinated ways. In addition, the authorities should pay more proper attention on the some certain aspects, including strengthening the institutional construction and fulfilling the relevant laws and regulations; optimizing the industrial distributions and promoting the upgrade on industrial structure; enhancing the co-ordination between urban and rural, boosting the construction in new rural areas;gradual furtherance on environmental management and ecological restoration.
