Research On The Comprehensive Economic Regionalization Of Iran

The research of economic zone and regionalization is one of the traditional subject in the field of Economic Geography. It is not only the basis of overall planning of regional economy, but also the important premise to achieve the economic and trade cooperation between the optimal allocation of resources, the rational distribution of productive forces and region. Economic zone is the economic regional unit based on the laws of the regional labor division in the process of commodity economy’s development, which is objective, regional, diverse, open and variational. For a long time, domestic scholars are always attaching more attentions to the research of Chinese comprehensive economic regionalization than other countries’. They use different theories and methods to study all levels of domestic area and have achieved good results. With the progress of science and technology and the accelerating process of economic globalization, our contact with other countries becomes more and more close, the step of all the countries’ industrial structure and layout adjustment is also accelerating. Therefo re, we cry for understanding their industrial structure’s current development stage and future development trend and the influencing factors of industry layout, according to the research of other countries’ industrial structure. Only then can we make policies which comply with their industry layout.Iran, the oil and gas resources power in the Middle East, owns oil and gas reserves which is respectively 4th and 1st in the world. As the third largest oil producer of OPEC and the third largest oil exporter of the word, Iran is one of the main sources of China’s oil imports and occupies a very important position in China’s energy security system. In addition, Iran is the main output object for China’s exports, and one of the important partners in China’s foreig n trade and economic cooperation relationship. It is the basis of further deepening our understanding of Iran and deepening economic and trade cooperation to study Iran’s comprehensive economic regionalization. At the same time,it also injects new vitality to further promote the One Belt And One Road strategy for China.On the basis of the study of relevant literature, the basic theory and method of comprehensive economic regionalization have been summarized. The statistics yearbook of Iran from 1388 to 1391 been used as date sources, 31 provinces as basic unit. Afterwards, this study analyzes the natural conditions and socio-economic conditions which influence Iran’s economic development, the natural conditions includes geography and geomorphy, climatic conditions, natural resources,land use status and so on, and the socio-economic conditions includes population and labor, traffic network, industrial structure and so on. And then the index system about comprehensive economic regionalization which reflect Iran’s natural conditions, economic development level, social development degree and infrastructure construction, using principal component analysis and cluster analysis to carry out Iran’s preliminary comprehensive economic regionalization, with adjustment of the result which combining the relevant qualitative conditions. Conclusions have been drawn as follows:(1)Iran’s national natural condition and social economic conditions of the regional difference are obvious. On the function of geography and geomorphy, climatic conditions, natural resources, land use status, labor, traffic network, industrial structure, a unique Iran pattern of regional economic development is formed.(2)This paper divides Iran’s 31 provinces into six comprehensive economic zones. As the Southeast Economic Zone, the Central Economic Zone, the Northwest Economic Zone, the Tehran Economic Zone, the Caspian Sea Coast Economic Zone and the Persian Gulf economic Zone.(3)Through the analysis of each zone, this paper summarizes the characteristics and the future development direction of each economic zone. Through this study, it finds that the Persian Gulf economic Zone, the Central Economic Zone, the Northwest Economic Zone are industrial complex economic zone, all of them have the advantage of developing a variety of industries at the same time. The Tehran Economic Zone is a economic zone of administrative. The Caspian Sea Coast Economic Zone is relatively single in industry type, but it still has a good momentum of industrial development. The Southeast Economic Zone’s natural geographical conditions is relativity weak, the development of the industry should be to protect the environment for the principle.
