Research On The Industry Selection Of Undertaking Place In Manufacturing Transfer In Jiangsu Province

Imbalanced regional economic development is a common scene of regional economy, which is largely due to the imbalanced development of industry. Industrial development difference intensively restricts the coordinated development of Jiangsu Province, as a result, more industry transfer in South of Jiangsu should be promoted so as to further enhance the development in northern Jiangsu. In this paper, based on the analysis of current situation of industry development in 13 cities among Jiangsu,certain concrete manufacturing industry will be found out in terms of undertaking places.Firstly, according to the relevant theory of industry transfer and theory of industry selection, we construct the index system to gauge the ability of undertaking transferred industry, through the principal component analysis method to make quantitative analysis on the industry selection factors. And then apply the capacity of undertake industrial transfer into the gravity model, which will further measure the industrial transfer flow between 5 cities in Southern Jiangsu and 8 remaining cities. Finally according to the results above, we will put forward suggestions on industry selection problem of undertaking cities.Conclusion drawn from the results shows that the central and northern Jiangsu area are suitable for undertaking labor intensive and capital intensive industry. However, significant difference lies between two areas:the central region cities choose to undertake more labor intensive primary manufacturing industry, and capital intensive industries as well as resources-oriented industry take large proportion in northern areas.The transfer of manufacturing industry is not just relocation in Jiangsu Province, but a process of upgrading and a greater range of restructuring. Cities in southern Jiangsu need to transfer more industries, expanding the range of selection for undertaking place. The central and northern areas should avoid undertaking similar industries as well as vicious competition. In addition, in terms of industrial-factors flow, Jiangsu province should establish a free flowing platform for industrial-factors, reducing factor mobility cost, so as to promote the undertaking of transferred manufacturing industries.
