GW Company’s Corporate-level Strategy Research

In the process of diversification development of many Chinese enterprises, they often focus on business-level strategy, while ignoring the importance of corporate-level strategy. This may cause their blind pursuit of expansion of investment, and lack of support of the core business and the coordination of the business combination, so as to be swamped in diversify predicament. Therefore, the corporate strategy is an irreplaceable cornerstone in the enterprise development process.GW Company is a diversifiedlisted company, which developed from a single electronic business to so far four business sectors. Its development strategy has great significance to study. This essay focuses on the GW Company’s corporate-level strategies. With the introduction and analysis of the internal and external environment of GW Company, and combining with the analysis of the company management mode and business, we used the analysis tools such as SWOT, GE matrix and parenting matching matrix, to match the management mode and business portfolios of the company. Then we draw the conclusion that the management mode needs adjustment, and the business portfolios need improvement. According to this conclusion we located the GW Company’s strategic objectives and planning schemes, and set the defense strategy, which is most suitable for the company development. Finally, we put forward the concrete measures of corporate-level strategy, including three aspects of the management mode adjustment measures, which are the adjustment of the organizational structure, the integration of resources and the construction of information platform, and the business portfolios improvement projects, including the industrial investment projects and the technical improvement projects. We hope these conclusions can provide some effective references for making decision of the company’s long-term strategy.
