In Ming dynasty, especially the late start, the specification for his outstanding commercial development of Hubei province, has important position in the national, its development and trade the deep reason behind the change of geographical landscape also has a distinct era characteristic. However at present academia for research on the time period of Hubei business focus on the development of the Qing dynasty and later, the object of study is focus on business group, towns, and the trade of goods in, also more traditional research method. Therefore, this article attempts from the perspective of historical commercial geography to partition comprehensive study of business development of Hubei province in Ming dynasty, the space-time characteristics of commercial development of Hubei province in Ming dynasty, and on this basis to find out the historical roots of the Hubei business development characteristics, and for today’s Hubei business further historical reference for the development of overall balance.In the process, the main use of local Chronicles, Ming and Qing literati notes, "atlas of Chinese history" (book 7) etc, using the method of historical literature analysis, mathematical statistics to study the research. The body of the main content is divided into three parts:The first part mainly analyzes the administrative division of Hubei in the Ming dynasty, and on the basis of commodity production and circulation of commodities of obvious regional characteristic could be divided into four major business district in Hubei province, western Hubei business district, north Hubei commercial and business district, the east of Jianghan plain area, and the basic geographical features in the further analysis.The second part mainly analyzes the four big commercial business development and prosperity of Ming dynasty and the condition of the development of deep natural and social background behind it. Such as natural conditions, immigration, the development of the domestic market, such as the change of the social climate effect on the business of Hubei province in Ming dynasty.The third part mainly analyzes the basic characteristics of commercial development in Hubei province in the Ming and Qing dynasties. Due to the development of Hankou, large changes have taken place in the trade pattern of Hubei in Ming dynasty, the early Ming to Xiangyang, Wuchang, Jingzhou three regional commercial center for the development of the transition to the late Ming with the center of Hankou formed by provincial and provincial trade network.
