Farmers are the basis for the development of cooperatives. So to understand farmers’ demand for cooperatives service, cooperation motivation and its influencing factors, establish a mechanism to guide farmers’ need and realize functions can effectively enhance the service function and promote long-term, stable development of cooperatives. This study has established an index system of cooperatives service function based on the relevant theoretical basis and existing research results, and then analyzes the cooperatives service function demand from farmers and its influencing factors. Lastly, the paper puts forward suggestions to improve quality and long-term development of cooperatives. The study has found that: Firstly, most farmers’ general awareness of cooperatives and participation is still in the low level. The benefit from cooperatives is so few that farmers unwilling to participate in it. Their willingness does not convert into actions effectively. Secondly, farmers pay most attention on agricultural products sales service, agricultural technology and information service, and it is followed by providing the minimum purchase price, participating in infrastructure construction, sponsoring of cultural activities, as agricultural processing service, agricultural storage service come in last. The service demand from farmers remains in a low level of cooperation. Thirdly, low level of cooperatives function achievement, not comprehensive institution and farmers’ limited knowledge are the major reasons in the demand priority. Fourthly, the cooperatives service function demand from farmers is affected by farmers’ personal factors, family factors, technology factors and psychology factors. From personal factors, female, younger, no workers experience farmer has a greater need in cooperatives service. From family factors, the level of household income, business scale and the number of labor has a positive effect, while the degree of industry and ability to raise funds has a negative effect on farmers’ needs. From technology factors, the agricultural technology training of farmers can effectively improve their demand for cooperatives service. From psychology factors, there is a deviation between the degree of cooperatives function realizes and farmers’ psychological cognition. This reduces the cooperatives service function demand from farmers. And the border between members and non-members is fuzzy. Membership has no significant effect on cooperatives service function demand for farmers. Besides, regional factors have no significant effect on farmers’ demand of cooperatives service function. To promote the quality and sustainable and steady development of cooperatives, we should promote the upgrading of cooperatives business structure by strengthening the processing function, guide cooperatives to develop normatively through improving the social service mechanism, raise farmers’ participation by increasing technical training services, enhance the market vitality of cooperatives by reinforcing government’s support. |
