Nowadays, each country attaches great importance to the climate problem which is a big challenge we have to face, and regards carbon or other greenhouse gas emission reduction plan as an effective measure to mitigate climate changes. In times of economy globalization, the Chinese government has been committed to exploring China’s own low carbon development road. The low-carbon development reports have been published every year since 2011.Chongqing as Chinese municipality and the leader of the western provinces has made great progress in foreign trade in recent years. Due to the structural differences and low environmental cost, the relevant departments ignore the pollution problem when develop the trade.Based on the above analysis, the article on the basis of theory and data from2006 to 2014 summarized the present situation of foreign trade from import and export trade structure. It finds that the size of Chongqing’s foreign trade has expanded each year, but the carbon emissions are rising year by year.Secondly, the trade sectors are classified and adjusted to 28 according to the investment and output tables about Chongqing in year 2007 and 2012. Building the model from the perspective of embodied carbon to estimate embodied carbon emissions in the 28 departments of Chongqing Foreign Trade. Exploring high carbon emissions sectors in Chongqing. Then analyzing the causes combined with the economic aspects of energy, environmental energy and foreign trade commodity structure.Again, building a model from the perspective of the general trade and processing trade to research the relationship between export structure and carbon emissions. The results show that general trade and processing trade have significantly positive effect oncarbon emissions in the long-term.Finally, a summary of the analysis has been made based on which several corresponding countermeasures and suggestions are put forward. The shortcomings on research have been shared too.
