Along with globalization, agriculture policy plays a crucial role in safeguarding corn production which is the premise of maintaining food safety in China. In 2016, central authorities proclaimed its agriculture "first document" to point out corn high inventory problem and that in order to improve agricultural production structure and regional distribution, appropriately reducing corn production in non-corn-producing-advantage areas is necessary. Studying on the effects that agriculture and other factors have on corn cultivate acreage and unit production helps the government make proper policy in agriculture policy that affects corn production.This paper studies agriculture’s effects on corn production from both national and regional levels. First, analyzing current corn production situation in China and the role of corn in grain helps to analyze agriculture’s influence on corn production. Second, agriculture policy herein includes agriculture finance support policy, agriculture fixed capital investing policy, temporary purchase and storage policy and agriculture tax reform policy. By using adjusting price model of Nerlove, this paper conducts empirical study on the effects of policy and other factors having on corn production to get the results of short term and long term influence that each agriculture policies may have on corn production. At the same time this paper studies regional differences of agriculture having on corn production. Last, based on empirical results and reality, this paper gives its policy suggestion.This paper may have make flowing contribution to existing literature:this paper pioneers in bringing temporary corn purchasing policy into the system of analyzing agricultural policy’s influence on corn production, at the same time, this paper studies agricultural policy’s influence on corn production instead of food production which makes this paper more specific.
