Study On The Influencing Factors Of Sustainable Development Of Tobacco Industry In China

With the continuous progress and development of society, the sustainable development has become a mainstream development concept practiced by more and more enterprises. The sustainable development theory emphases on the harmony and unity of economic growth, social progress and natural environment, which is the synchronous development of the trinity of sustainable economic, social and ecology. In the face of increasingly severe market demand and competition, taking effect of the Framework Convention on Tobacco Control (FCTC), intensifying mergers and reorganization of world tobacco groups, surging of anti-tobacco campaigns, and the new demands of ecological development, China’s tobacco industry is facing the serious situation of multiple pressure. It is quite significant for the future of tobacco industry to achieve breakthrough in the dilemma, cope with unfavorable external environment, shoulder social responsibility, and achieving the rapid and sound sustainable development of China tobacco industry.Although some experts, scholars and related personnel already analyzed and elaborated the sustainable development of tobacco industry, and the state tobacco monopoly bureau also put forward the sustainable development strategy, two shortage still exist. Firstly, sustainable development only be known as the macro strategy of enterprises lacking in-depth study, The practicality and feasibility are not strong. Secondly, qualitative redundancy and quantitative deficiency are general problems of the domestic academic circle. The few literature about the influencing factors analysis of tobacco industry sustainable development are mostly based on qualitative research instead of quantitative research, which lead to the lack of summary of promoting and hindering factors.To screening the influencing factors of the sustainable development of tobacco industry, this study overcomes the above two shortage and comprehensively analyze the four sides of the sustainable development of China tobacco industry, including advantage, disadvantage, opportunity and threat, by SWOT. Meanwhile, we systematically summarize the promoting and hindering factors. Then, on the basis of summarizing the previous studies, we propose conceptual models and conditional assumptions of the main influencing factors, and calculate the contribution ratio of factors by the combination of qualitative and quantitative analysis. According to the results of analysis, the conceptual models been amended. The results show that the main promoting factors of the sustainable development of tobacco industry include enterprise strategy and technology, economic benefit, and environmental policy. The main hindering factors include enterprise culture and environmental policy, social consciousness, and economy. Furthermore, the countermeasures and suggestions were put forwards to help to achieve the sustainable development of China tobacco industry.
