Study On The Economic Spatial Structure Of Shenyang Metropolis Circle

Serving as a special pattern of geologic spatial organizing, the metropolis circle is capable of displaying the radiation and diffusion effect of the metropolis on surrounding small towns, and promotes the regional economy on the whole while taking advantage of economic agglomeration. It’s been proved that the metropolis circle is an effective pattern of solving industry upgrades, adjusting structures, coordinating urban-rural relationship and innovating mechanism under the New Normal economic circumstance.Shenyang metropolis circle is an important economic growth pole within Northeast China. It centers on Shenyang, capital city of Liaoning, with a diffusion scope including surrounding cities such as Anshan, Fushun, Benxi, Yingkou, Fuxin, Liaoyang and Tieling. In recent years, Shenyang metropolis circle has achieved a higher economic development rate compared with the average level of Northeast China, as well as an immerse economic aggregate, with means of solid agricultural and industrial fundament, convenient transport network, advanced scientific research achievements, etc. Selected as The National New Industrial Synthetically Reform Testing District, Shenyang metropolis circle currently confronts unprecedentedly vital opportunity. Under new circumstances, the study of enhancing internal economic spatial connections, promoting the establishment of well-organized industrial and economic division system, optimizing regional economic spatial structure as well as realizing coordinating regional economic development is of great importance.Given the study background as above, the study is angled from the economic spatial structure of Shenyang metropolis circle. Combining qualitative analysis with quantitative analysis and relating practical research to theoretical basis, the study introduces urban gravity model and urban flow model, conducts a comprehensive research on the economic spatial structure development and features, which illustrates multiple indicators including individual city development quality, intercity economic connection, regional industrial structure and so forth. The study aims at finding out current problems and obstacles, trying to propose rational research basis for the proceeding development of Shenyang metropolis circle. The main body is comprised of four parts.The first part is a systematic review of related documents and researches, involving specific definitions, basic theories and existed documents at home and abroad. Via the review process of past academic achievements, the author tries to sort and clarify current scientific progresses on metropolis circle and economic spatial structure, which provides a solid theoretical basis for the following research.The second part gives a thorough introduction on the existing circumstance of Shenyang metropolis circle, divided into overall situation, current economic development and present economic spatial structure. Current economic development refers to economic aggregate, resource endowment, industrial fundament, transportation situation and policy support. Whereas present economic spatial structure of the metropolis circle reveals structures of population distribution, labor employment and urban industries.The third part emphasizes on empirical analysis, which employes urban gravity model and urban flow model to quantify economic spatial connections and structures within the region, thus leads to an overall analysis on developing advantages and weakness. Specifically, urban gravity model concentrates on intercity economic forces, measuring individual city development quality and time distance between certain areas. Urban flow model focuses on regional industrial specialization and external function, analyzing from the angle of optimizing industrial structure and different roles each city plays in regional economic connections.The final part proposes pointed strategies and suggestion for the development of Shenyang metropolis circle, based on the qualitative and quantitative analysis provided as above. To begin with, the study proceeds with empirical analyzing results, giving a balanced evaluation of individual city development qualities and intercity economic connections. Then the study puts forward respective adjusting and optimizing suggestion on economic spatial poles, axis lines and carriers, including improvements of urban function, transportation network and industrial distribution.
