| With the improvement of productivity and the development of technology,automotive industry is playing a more and more important role in social and economic activities. It has established a dominant position in industrial advancement in the national economy with its strong economic strength and technological superiority in recent years. As an automotive industrial province, the relationship between Jilin’s competitiveness of automotive industry and the development of its economy has been a research hotspot gradually.After consulting the domestic and foreign research literatures in the field mentioned above, this paper introduces and summarizes the relevant theories mainly including Industrial Competitiveness Theory, Regional Economy Theory and Coupling Development Theory, also it provides a new elaboration on these concepts. Regarding to industrial competitiveness, this thesis constructs a evaluation index system of automotive industrial competitiveness which is based on four first-grade index and seventeen second-grade index according to the foreign and domestic evaluation index system of industrial competitiveness and the status of development of automotive industry in Jilin Province. With respect to the level of regional economic development it establishes an evaluation index system for Jilin Province. Hierarchical analysis is used in the research to investigate the automotive industrial competitiveness of the main automobile provinces in China in 2013, and the existing state of and the improvement of Jilin’s competitiveness is revealed through a comparative study.Meanwhile, this thesis analyses and comments on the factors influencing the competitiveness of Jilin’s automotive industry, which will be helpful for giving rational suggestions for promoting benign interaction between Jilin’s automotive industrial competitiveness and its economic development. In addition, the coupling coordination degree between the automotive industrial competitiveness and regional economic development of Jilin and their changing trends is explored by making a coupling study,and recommendations are provided for coordinating the competitiveness improvement of Jilin’s automotive industry with its economic development.This paper is divided into six parts. In the first chapter, there is a briefintroduction of the background, significance, design and methodology as well as contents of the study; Chapter two explains the relevant concepts and theories; chapter three analyses the existing state of development of automotive industry, its competitiveness and the regional economic development in Jilin Province. As a core chapter, Chapter four reveals the relationship between Jilin’s automotive industrial competitiveness and its economic development by ways of constructing the coupling evaluation system and analyzing the coupling coordination degree and their changing trends; in chapter five, there are suggestions and recommendations for coordinating the competitiveness improvement of automotive industry with the economic development in Jilin Province. The final chapter provides the conclusion to the findings and discusses the research limitation. |
