As the support industry of transportation in China, the railway transport is becoming more and more distinctly, improving the railway transport efficiency will have significant impact on the sustained development of railway. In recent years, the railway transport efficiency has increasingly attracted a lot of attention, represented by the DEA model, a series of method were widely employed in the calculation of efficiency.In order to improve the existing study, in this dissertation, generalized data envelopment analysis model is introduced in the calculation of railway transport efficiency; the main work is as following:Firstly, the characteristics, operating status and the factors that affect transport efficiency are analyzed with the key point of transport efficiency; the common research methods on transport efficiency are summarized, the basic idea and trait of DEA model is highlighted.Secondly, the generalized data envelopment analysis model is established, the constitution principle, economic characteristic and interpretation, the use in transport efficiency analysis and the difference and relation between conventional DEA model and G-DEA model is analyzed, finally, through an example, the results of G-DEA are obtained, the influence of different sample units on DMUs’efficiency is reflected.Thirdly, according to the traits of railway transport enterprise, the decision making units are defined, the influence of input-output forms on railway transport enterprise are analyzed, the set of input-output forms is obtained from literature analysis; these input-output forms are processed by principal component analysis, then the input-output forms which is used in this dissertation are screened out; furthermore, according to the statistical data, the conventional DEA model and G-DEA model are used separately in computing and comparing the efficiency, by altering the reference collections, the new ranking is obtained, proposal of input and output is given, based on this, the units which efficiency value is 1 in conventional DEA model are evaluated; finally, rank correlation analysis is introduced to compute the correlation between input-output forms and transport efficiency under different sample units..Finally, by the combination of the G-DEA model under different sample units, the conclusion is obtained, which can provide decision support for the railway transport enterprise in reality.
