Research On Environmental Performance Evaluation Of Iron And Steel Enterprise

For a long time the research on financial risk of enterprises has been as an important issue in the financial field. Now in the fierce competitive environment,the existence of the financial risk for the development of enterprises will be a threat or even may cause the enterprise fell into the management crisis led to bankruptcy. But now there are many causes of enterprise financial risk, such as market environment, policies and other external factors are not controllable.The advances in science and technology in recent years have significantly improved the quality of people’s life.The research on environmental performance evaluation in C hina is at the fledgling stage. We have yet to establish a comprehensive theoretical system of indicator selection and evaluation methods, and this constrains the empirical and theoretical development of environmental performance evaluation. We therefore need to complete and strengthen the related theories and come up with specific approach of evaluation for different enterprises. Such e fforts will help the management of enterprises improve their work and provide effective and genuine evaluation of enterprises’ environmental performance for external stakeholders. This will help enterprises reduce risks in environmental management and deve lop sustainably.This thesis starts with an introduction of the background and importance of environmental performance evaluation and a literature review. This is followed by an elaboration of related concepts and theoretical framework. Based on the characteristics, I propose an evaluation model. The selection of indicators for this model incorporates the perspectives of environmental accounting and auditing, internal management,external holders and the potential of development. The last section is a case st udy of Shougang Group. I apply the model to conduct a comprehensive valuation of the enterprise’s environmental performance through quantitative and qualitative analysis. I also put forward recommendations for improvement in environmental performance evaluation for enterprises and the iron and steel sector as a whole.
