With the development of economy, environmental problems become more and more serious in our country, the energy depletion damage to ecological environment. The iron and steel enterprise as a pillar industry in our country, has brought rapid economic growth with resources and environment serious damage, because of its high energy consumption and high pollution. So we must pay full attention to the impact of its production and operation behavior on environment. But most of the enterprise are short of environmental protection consciousness they pursuit of economic growth rather than the environmental protection, in the long run, it must restrict the growth of the economy and affect the enterprise sustainable development. The iron and steel enterprises should undertake social responsibility actively, protect the ecological environment, transform mode of production and asses the enterprise’s environmental performance evaluation strictly, which measures can restrict the environmental behavior and solve the environmental pollution problems from the source. At present, the research on our country enterprise environmental performance evaluation has not reached a consensus, so that the evaluation work for environmental performance of the iron and steel enterprise is not mature, there are many shortcomings on the evaluation method and index system, lacking specification guidelines make the enterprises can’t work uniformly for environmental performance evaluation, to affect the effectiveness of the environmental management and environmental performance evaluation. Therefore, we need to establish and improve the evaluation system, monitoring and guiding the behavior of enterprise environmental performance evaluation, in order to promote the enterprise production and marketing without pollution, and seek long-term development.The paper focuses on the iron and steel enterprise environmental performance evaluation, analysis the environmental performance evaluation problems of iron and steel enterprise deeply In view of the problems existed in the environmental performance evaluation and the indicators easily to ignore, adopting the mechanism of the balanced scorecard to build a scientific environmental performance evaluation index system. Working with normative analysis method and examples analysis, based on the information and data from BaoSteel social responsibility report2013, using the analytic hierarchy process (AHP) to environmental performance evaluation and analysis. Finally, putting forward the improvement measures on the problems existed in the iron and steel enterprise environmental performance evaluation, further to standardize the enterprise environmental management and environmental performance evaluation and promote enterprises undertake the social responsibility actively.
