Empirical Analysis On Intra-industry Trade And Its Influencing Factors Of Agricultural Products Between China And ASEAN

Since the 1960 s, earth-shaking changes have taken place in the pattern of international trade. The traditional international trade theory system failed to explain the phenomenon that more and more countries imported and exported products of the same industry at the same time; as a result, the study of intra-industry trade was developed. Early intra-industry trade mainly happened in manufactured goods industry between developed countries, but more and more scholars began to study the intra-industry trade of developing countries along with the acceleration of global economic integration. By the end of the 20 th century, the study of intra-industry trade in agricultural products was gradually carried out. As a vast agricultural country,China has always been focusing on agriculture since CAFTA was established. It is very important for both China and ASEAN to develop intra-industry trade in the field of agriculture, so studies on the current situation and influencing factors of intra-industry trade in agricultural products have practical significance.Based on theoretical analysis and empirical analysis, this paper summarizes the research achievements of both domestic and foreign scholars, and then carries out the study into the following several aspects: First, we introduce the representative theories of intra-industry trade and explains the influencing factors of intra-industry trade from both the national level and industry level; Second, we analyze the present situation of agricultural products trade between China and ASEAN in detail from the angles of industry and nation and then calculate the Grubel-Lloyd index and Brulhart index;Third, based on the above analysis, we select some variables and set up a panel data model to carry on an empirical analysis on the influencing factors for agricultural products intra-industry trade between China and ASEAN.Through the research, it is found that although the intra-industry trade level of agricultural products between China and ASEAN has improved in recent years, there are still some problems: excessive trade deficit, unstable growth of intra-industry trade and so on. Therefore, according to the results of the above analysis of the present situation of agricultural products trade between China and ASEAN and its influencing factors, we put forward some reasonable suggestions from the level ofenterprise and government respectively.
