This paper makes an empirical analysis on the quantity, quality and structure of the farmers in Shanxi, and makes a survey of the employment situation of local university students. The following conclusions are drawn: the general situation of Shanxi province agriculture human capital is: The quantity is big, the quality is low, the structure is unreasonable; And the lack of sustainable development of agricultural human capital in the region, From the whole point of view, engaged in agricultural workers’ Education in primary and junior high school, which is far from the requirements of modern agriculture for the quality of the farmers; Rural students receiving higher education in the post graduation mostly choose to stay in the city, which is also to some extent, the loss of the potential of agricultural human capital; The agricultural human capital in the Shanxi region needs the government departments to optimize the use of various ways.
