Study On The Influence And Countermeasures Of Imported Dairy Products To China’s Dairy Industry Development

In recent years, with the development of our national economy and improvement of people’s life quality, dairy products have become an integral part of daily life. At the same time, the importance of dairy industry to a country’s economic development is also growing. Now many countries have attached great importance to dairy industry, especially in some developing countries. Because the governments hope that through the development of dairy industry, their national physical quality can be improved. Due to dairy industry chain bestrides three main industries, the importance of dairy industry to the whole economy is obvious. For a long time, however, China’s dairy products trade has been characterized by import volume exceeding the export volume. Imported dairy products make China’s dairy market prosperous. At the same time, however, imported dairy products also bring negative effects to the development of our dairy industry.Based on the analysis of China’s dairy trade status quo and the development of dairy industry in China, we found that: On the one hand, the quantity and the money of imported dairy products increased year by year and the imported types showed a trend of diversification. On the other hand, the development of dairy industry in China is unstable. First of all, the benefits of cow breeding fluctuate significantly and our technology of dairy products processing industry is lagging far behind competitors. Secondly, there are lots of quality and safety problems. Thirdly, our dairy industry concentration ratio is low as well as the degree of monopoly. Moreover, the homogeneity of the products has already become the remarkable characteristic of the market. In this situation, imported dairy products will no doubt affect our dairy industry in many aspects. The article analyzed how imported dairy products promote our dairy industry from technology spillovers. And then discusses the negative effects. The conclusion is that imported dairy products have affected the healthy development of dairy industry, squeezed the domestic enterprises’ profit space and the consumer surplus. At last, the paper lists some countermeasures from national, enterprise and customer level in order to revive China’s dairy industry.
