Abstract/Summary:
This thesis is aimed at exploring the relationship between FDI and the employee’s income gap among different enterprises, using a large number of empirical studies which are based on the panel data of the micro-enterprise in Chinese industrial enterprises database data during 1999-2008.The empirical studies are divided into two parts, one is to study the wage spillover effect of FDI and the relationship between FDI and the income gap of the enterprises with different ownership, the other is to explore the relationship between FDI and the employees’ income gap among different enterprises, and study the ownership differences, industry differences and region differences through which FDI adjusts employees’ income gap among different enterprises. Meanwhile, this is also a key innovation point in this thesis. We can reach three conclusions from the outcome of the empirical studies. Firstly, FDI produces a positive wage spillover effect through labor and capital channels, and produces a negative wage spillover effect through product channel. Meanwhile, FDI increases the employees’ income gap of the different ownership enterprises through labor channel, and narrows the employees’ income gap of different enterprises through capital channel and product channel. Secondly, from the perspective of the whole labor market, FDI narrows the employees` income gap of different enterprises through labor channel and product channel while increases the employees’ income gap of different enterprises through capital channel, but the influence of the capital channel is relatively weak. Thirdly, according to the ownership grouping test, industry grouping test and region grouping test of the model, we can conclude that the three channels through which FDI affect the income of different enterprises exert different influence in different ownership, industries and regions.
