Research On Containerized Freight Index Based On The Perspective Of The Cargo’s Owner

As container modes of transport develops rapidly and popularizes, It is urgently required in shipping world that the container freight is accurately predicted and the related derivatives develop. The formation of CCFI and SCFI has the foundational significance in that reflect the rules of export container freight fluctuation and shipping market development. However, the related derivatives that base on CCFI or SCFI don’t achieve significant results. This is worthy of reflecting possible problems about CCFI or SCFI. In this paper, the SCFI is only used as the main research object.In this paper, based on the Internet technology revolution continuously push forward and the business platform of freight forwarding rise up, after thorough study in index theory and shipping index, carefully analyze the characteristics of container transport market, and make a comprehensive summary of SCFI’s problem in development of freight derivatives. The corresponding measures are proposed against the existing problems of SCFI.Firstly, aiming at the problems existing in SCFI has been improved in two aspects, which respectively is the replacement of the data source and the publication frequency changed to a daily publication. Exactly, the necessity of the replacement of the data source was analyzed from a qualitative point of view. According to the collected data, did the algorithm analysis and made DSCFI based on the static weight, and compared with SCFI analysis. And based on the longer range data, validated the model. The ideal results were found. The improved index is closer the volatility of freight shippers faced than SCFI. It realized daily publication of Container Freight Index. It is more probable to develop the corresponding financial derivatives on this basis.Secondly, based on the dynamic weight, we made improvements about DSCFI, and created DSCFI2. At the beginning, in order to compare with SCFI, DSCFI was made using the fixed weight SCFI. Through qualitative and quantitative analysis, it is necessary to use dynamic weight to improve the DSCFI. So we created DSCFI2 based on dynamic weight, and compare the effect of improvement. The improvement is obvious.
