Quanzhou city is an important regional center of Fujian Province that plays a pivotal role in the development of the Fujian Province and the West Coast Economic Zone of Taiwan Strait. Therefore, it’s an important practical significance for Quanzhou to comprehensive analysis for the health of its urban ecological-economic system and sustainable development. By conversion of a different types and forms of ecological flow into a unified metrics, emergy analysis method provides an important approach to analyze sustainable development of ecological-economic system sciencely and quantitatively. However, there are still some shortcomings in the current emergy analysis method, and it’s a important theoretical significance to improve it, according to the needed of study and research purposes.Firstly, the paper summarizes the research progress of sustainable development of ecological-economic system and emergy analysis at home and abroad. And than, we disscuss the role and inadequate of emergy analysis method in the research of sustainable development, and analyze the importance of combining the econometrics method with emergy analysis method. On the basis of it, the research questions and methods are to be proposed.Secondly, after introducing the fundamental theory, the basic method and the concrete step of emergy analysis, the emergy analysis index system is constructed. Besides, we disscuss the significance of The main indicators.Thirdly, based on basic method of emergy, the main types of emergy flows in Quanzhou ecological-economic system is accounted. Than, in order to explore the mechanism of interaction and dynamic characteristics of input-output emergy flows in time series, some econometrics models, like co-integration tests, Granger causality Tests, and error correction model are used to analysis of emergy flows.Fourthly, on the basis of emergy flows analysis, we use emergy analysis index system for system health and sustainable development study of Quanzhou ecological-economic system. The study is divided into three parts:dynamic change analysis, sensitivity analysis, and horizontal comparison analysis.Fifthly, at present the systematic study of dynamic mechanism for sustainable development are relatively neglected in emergy analysis. In order to improve this problem, we define the"Sustainable Development Kuznets Curve(SDKC)"to analyze the dynamic relationship between the comprehensive emergy indicators of sustainable development and the level of economic development. Besides, the improvement model on degree of grey slope incidence was used to preliminarly explain and discuss the causes of SDKC.Lastly, the paper summarizes the current situation and problems of the system of sustainable development that have been found from emergy analysis. And than, according to the above, some policy recommendations for promote sustainable development of Quanzhou city are put forward.
