Research On The Influence Of Spatial Knowledge Spillovers On The Chinese Provincial Knowledge Innovation

With the further development of the technological revolution and the deepening of globalization, the world is entering the era of knowledge economy. In this era, the core turning of regional competitiveness is increasingly depending on the capital and technology innovation. And Knowledge innovation has become the lifeblood of the knowledge economy. In the era of knowledge economy, the capacity of knowledge innovation is undoubtedly a key factor in the promotion of national or regional economic growth. Today China is entering a critical historical period of economic transition. In order to achieve the strategic objectives on transformation and upgrading of the national economy, our government responses to the trend request of knowledge economy, treats enhancing innovative capability as the central link of speeding up industrial restructuring and transformation of economic development, and has taken enhancing independent innovation capability and building an innovative country as the national development strategy.As knowledge has the attributes of public goods, the process of regional knowledge innovation will face the problem of knowledge spillovers. Inter-regional knowledge spillovers will also have a major impact on the ability and level of knowledge innovation in the adjacent areas. By constructing the index system this paper evaluates the knowledge innovation of provinces and describes the spatial distribution of provincial knowledge innovation activities, and then by constructing a model on the relationship between spatial knowledge spillovers and regional knowledge innovation and using the data on 31 provinces in China, this paper conducts an empirical study on the direction and degree of the influence of spatial knowledge spillovers on the Chinese provincial knowledge innovation, and proposes appropriate policy recommendations based on the empirical results. This paper hopes efforts above can really provide a useful reference to raising the level of knowledge innovation of provinces and regions in China and promoting our construction of innovative country.
