The Research Of Airlines Efficiency Which Is Based On Malmquist Index

With the reform and openness in our country going deeply and people’s living standards improved, people’s demand for travel increases more and more and the dependence of the aviation industry is also growing. As foreign airlines have entered the Chinese market, it is an opportunity and challenge for China’s aviation industry.The reason that large foreign airlines have been able to occupy the world’s leading position for a long term is worthy of us to explore, study, this article will give us a lesson by a analysis of a well-known foreign airline’s advantages and disadvantagesThis paper will analyze different routes operating efficiency of a famous airline in China, which were used data envelopment analysis, Malmquist index method and fuzzy comprehensive evaluation method. First paper will select the input and output for data envelopment analysis (DEA), and the use of fuzzy comprehensive evaluation method to solve the output index ’customer satisfaction’, all input and output values. Then, the BBC and CCR models of the data envelopment analysis are used to solve the efficiency of the different routes and the efficiency of the pure technical efficiency.. Subsequently, paper will give a horizontal analysis of the ranking situation, and propose the advise for improvements. Then, the Malmquist index method is used to analyze the total factor productivity of each route, and the technical progress efficiency of the total factor of 4 years. Finally, the efficiency of the airline freight transportation system is calculated separately, and the analysis is carried out.Through the analysis of the selected routes, we will know the reasons for the low efficiency of different routes, and the improvement suggestions are put forward. It also analyzes the reasons for the high efficiency for domestic airlines to learn from. Final results confirm the correctness of the airline which has been stressing service, advices that Qingdao branch should reopen cargo airplane are put forward through analysis of the efficiency of freight. Through the example we can prove the models which are used in this paper is rational, so can use these models to analyze the efficiency of the other airlines.This thesis is completed under the National Natural Science Foundation of China (71271035).
