Although there are a lot of obstacles and difficulties when applying equipment supervision in the EPC general contract projects, such as the equipment supervision enterprises were unable to get the full of trust of owner, the equipment supervision enterprise’s overall strength is very poor, the coordination between EPC general contractor and equipment supervision enterprise s need to be improved, and the scope of equipment supervision services engineering was limited to the construction phase etc., vigorously promoting the application of equipment supervision in the EPC general contract projects helps to improve the efficiency of project management and has obvious advantages, including assisting owner to supervise the behavior of EPC general contractor so that owner’s management work can be dramatically simplified, improving the quality of equipment, guaranteeing investment results, reducing the construction period, and so on. Therefore, for the better implementation of the projects and good investment returns being achieved, the study of the application and importance of equipment supervision in EPC general contracting mode is extremely necessary.This paper first discusses the present situation both at homeland and abroad and the research background of equipment supervision, EPC general contracting mode, and "Owner+ Equipment engineering consulting entity+EPC general contractor" mode. Then, this paper expounds the connotation of equipment supervision, including the definition of the equipment supervision, the difference between equipment supervision and engineering construction supervision, the service object of equipment supervision, and the necessity of implementing equipment supervision in our country. After that, this paper illustrates the specific content of EPC general contracting mode, including the definition of EPC general contracting mode and the analysis of the status quo of EPC general contracting mode in our country. Next, begins with the analysis of advantages and disadvantages of owner and EPC general contractor in the EPC general contracting mode, this paper then discusses the application of equipment supervision in the EPC general contract projects. Finally, through discussing the importance of equipment supervision in the EPC general contract projects, as well as giving suggestions about how can the equipment supervision to play a maximum role in the EPC general contract projects, this paper hopes to give some inspiration and references to colleagues.
