Feeding the people, carrying industry and economy, land also is the symbiosis of environment and climate. Yangtze River economic belt go across the East, Middle and West three areas, contains 11 provinces. The whole belt has different resource endowments, outstanding comprehensive advantage and high strategic position, is one of China’s most economically vibrant regions. But the gradient of the economic strength is obviously different, development level is unbalanced, and presents the inverse of "geographic" effect. Especially in the process of industrialization and urbanization, contradiction between people and land of the Yangtze River economic belt is increasingly sharp. There are regional differences in land use patterns, land-intensive effect of agglomeration and structural disorders coexist in high economic developed area, land quality waste and degraded exist in backward area, affecting "Eastern and Western development and ecological civilization demonstration zone" construction of the Yangtze River economic belt. Therefore, the study of characteristics and the relationship between land use and economic development in different provinces of Yangtze River economic belt, evaluation of the coordination problem between the land and environment, has a certain significance.This paper construct the index system of comprehensive evaluation from “intensive, green and low-carbon” three aspects, use entropy model, obstacle degree model and coordination degree model to evaluate level of urban land intensive utilization of the Yangtze River economic belt. From empirical analysis of economic data of 11 provinces in Yangtze River economic belt from 2008 to 2012, this paper reaches three conclusions:First, absolute differences and relative differences of uaban land intensive using level among provinces in Yangtze River economic belt are in narrowed, and has obvious regional features: the urban land intensive using level of provinces in downstream area and near downstream area and the municipalities has reached high and relatively high gradient, such as Shanghai, Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Jiangxi, Chongqing, Anhui and Hubei; urban land intensive using level of provinces in upstream area and near upstream area is still in lower and relatively low gradient, such as Sichuan, Hunan, Yunnan and Guizhou.Second, in the past five years, the overall level of land inputs, outputs, and pollution control of 11 provinces in Yangtze River economic belt had enhanced, the green and low-carbon utilization level of urban land and overall coordination of the middle and upper reaches has outstanding performance, the indicators, such as land use and input-intensity, in upstream areas have a significant advantage. Population supporting capacity of Urban land, intensive management degree and land use structure layout is still the main obstacle factors in increasing the level of green and low carbon use, pollution control and environmental inputs are primary limiting factors in restricting land ecological security of the lower reaches, such as Jiangsu, Zhejiang and Shanghai. So it is required to strengthen the urban agglomeration degree, land population density and economic strength in upper and middle reaches, increase land frastructure investment, such as transport and public services, plan reasonable land structure, and improve eco-economic involvement in lower reach.Third, hanghai have led the way in urban land intensive management. Jiangxi has outstanding performance in urban land green and low-carbon utilization, whose comprehensive utilization level of catch up with Zhejiang and Shanghai leapt in the first stadus. Coordination level on intensive green and low-carbon land using level of Sichuan is far ahead. These three provinces located each in upper, middle and lower reaches, they can full use land using advantage, play radiation influence of "points", "with point with the whole belt". For example, Shanghai should increase green environmental support on provinces which have obvious land ecological "overflow effect" in upper and middle area, strengthen feedback strength on land, full use leading status to play a leading demonstration effect, lead urban land intensive, green and low-carbon usenof Yangtze River economic belt to upgrade, promot the "green economic " construction of Yangtze River economic belt.
