With the development of industrialization, urbanization and modernization as well as the surge of land use for industry and infrastructure, the scarcity of urban land has led to the shift to areas bordering urban and rural areas and the suburbs. Therefore, farmers who have lost their land have come into existence. According to views in the general guidelines for land use nationwide, there will have been87million mu of land for construction use by2020. If calculated by1mu per capita, more than100million people will have lost their land. The problems caused can not be ignored. These farmer have experienced and witnessed the social restructuring of China. There are several reasons fort this problem. Flaws exist in the compensation system and laws and regulations in the current land requisition. Farmers have not got enough compensation which always come in a single way. As a result of this, a large number of farmers have lost their land and their lawful rights and interests have been damaged, becoming helpless. On the other hand, as aging process continues, in particular in rural areas the original old age support model which is based on land has been affected without a stable source of income. To ensure their old age support is a must for the deprived farmers. Otherwise, they will be faced with difficulty in their old age. The upcoming aging society will worsen the old age support.The article deals with the old age support system for farmers who have lost their land in terms of urbanization development. It also touches on relevant theories on urbanization and old age support for deprived farmers. The article first shows us the historical process of the effects of urbanization on the above-mentioned farmers and the status quo of theses farmers. Then it also analyses the impacts of the rapid development of urbanization on the old age support of farmers who have lost their land. By analyzing several typical successful stories of land compensation system at home an abroad and solving old age support for these farmers, it puts forward proposals for properly handling the old age support for farmers losing their land. I hope the article will raise the attention of the whole society to the old age support of these farmers. Also, it may serve as a reference for government in formulating relevant policies.
