Therefore, the systematic research on the influence of information industry on economic growth, put forward countermeasures is suitable for the development of information industry of the western region, in order to promote economic growth in western China. To narrow the gap between regional economy, has become one of the major problems to be solved which is relation to the current social and economic development in western China.First, in this paper, the information industry is defined, the author believes that the information industry is along with the rapid development of the computer technology, digital technology and network communication technology. The information collection, processing, storage, distribution, use and other information services, and information collection equipment manufacturing industry. The basic theory for the development of information industry, mainly including industry relevance theory and new economic growth theory. By combing the relevant research both at home and abroad, then analyses the mechanism of action of the information industry to promote economic growth.Secondly, from the elements and characteristics of two aspects analyzes the western region of the information industry development present situation and existing problems. The factor analysis of the information industry development in western China mainly includes the information infrastructure, information development environment, the application of information technology and information resources development and talent development in five aspects.Again, on the basis of the analysis of the situation, from the perspective of statistical analysis and econometric analysis by software, combined with the western region in 2001-2012 data of the information industry and economic development of the information industry to promote economic growth in west region, the empirical analysis. Apply panel unit root tests, panel co-integration test and panel regression analysis, grey correlation analysis, has carried on the empirical research.
