Since the 1976s, the tourism industry of Laos People’s Democratic Republic has entered a stage of rapid development, which contributes to the GDP of Lao People increasingly. Tourism has six elements consisting of food, housing, transport, traveling, shopping and entertainment. The transport is extremely important to tourism before and after arriving the destination. The complexity of the terrain in Laos, however, makes it difficult to the transport development, either between provinces in Laos, or within different parts of Laos. Without the support of a sophisticated transport network, tourism in any province can hardly play well, develop well, and contribute well, even if possessing rich tourism resources. Therefore, the study of the relevance between the transport network and the tourism development in Laos, will certainly have theoretical and practical values in solving transport network bottlenecks and promoting the tourism development in Laos.Firstly this paper described the current situation of tourism and transport in Laos. Then based on the gray relational analysis and multiple linear regression analysis, the paper made quantitative analysis about the influences the development of transport network exerts to tourism development, the importance of different transport modes, and the effects of the road traffic network on the development of the development of tourism in Laos. The final conclusions are:The paper analyzed the correlation among highways, waterways, air transportation and tourism by gray relational model. The results show that the correlation between highway and tourism development is the biggest one, which means highway has contributed most to the development of tourism in Laos, followed by water transport and civil aviation. The paper also divided the Laos into northern and non-northern regions, explained the phenomenon of inconsistent between tourism revenues and the distribution of road density based on the actual situation of the development of traffic transport industry, and found that the effect of the northern road network on the development of tourism is much bigger.
