This paper selected clothing shopping guide as the research object, using the behavior event interview, literature material method, questionnaire survey method, statistical analysis and other methods, combining qualitative research and quantitative research, and we have initially established the clothing shopping guide competency model by the empirical research. Then we compiled a questionnaire of the clothing shopping guide competency, and analyzed the current situation of clothing shopping guide competency.This research mainly consists of three parts:Firstly,basing on the behavior event interview data of thirty clothing shopping guides, we had initially built the clothing shopping guide competency model.In this competency model, there were seven items:the customer consciousness, the personal influence, the ability of information gathering and processing, the achievement motivation, the job skills, the interpersonal insight, and the spirit of team cooperation.Secondly, through the literature material method and the group discussion method, we have finished the collecting work of the primary questionnaire items based on seven competence characteristics of clothing shopping guide. After the item analysis, the exploratory factor analysis, and reliability and validity testing, a questionnaire of the clothing shopping guide competency which was composed of six dimensions that included twenty-one items was constructed.Finally, this paper discussed the effect of demographic variables on the clothing shopping guide competency by One-way ANOVA, LSD and T Test, using the self-developed questionnaire of the clothing shopping guide competency to analysis the current situation of438clothing shopping guides in five cities. The results show that clothing shopping guide competency have significant differences in five variables, such as age, marital status, education level, job grade, work experience except in gender.
