As a key factor of performance management to enterprise human resource management, performance appraisal helps employees to promote their own quality, realize their self-value, provides basic to enterprise performance management, allocates resources and coordinate targets. With the development of the economic globalization, market competition intensifies the changes in both internal and external environment. Most enterprises have realized the importance of performance appraisal and so they established their own performance appraisal system, but lead to opposite result in practice. Thus, by using scientific research methods and considerations to research of domestic politics, economy, social and cultural background, the theory and method of implementing performance appraisal of enterprises can become an effective way for enterprise management, as well as improve enterprise performance level, promote the healthy sustainable development of enterprises.Taking Kunming Shantui company sales staff performance evaluation as an example, this essay gradually goes by reading literature, field exchange interviews, questionaire survey, field observation methods.Firstly, based on the performance appraisal theories, through the study on the present situation of the domestic construction machinery industry and the situation of Kunming Shantui company, analyze the problems of Kunming Shantui company sales staff performance appraisal system. Secondly, evaluate the framework and concrete contents of the performance appraisal system. Finally, carry out appraisal system to the project and implement it effectively. The key performance indicators (KPI) evaluation system can be used in practice of the company’s sales staff performance management.This essay is mainly focusing on the study and application of the performance appraisal and performance management theory. Using classical theory to appraisal sales staff of Kunming Shantui company, solved a series of problems in the sales staff, such as non-unity thoughts, low enthusiasm and poor market performance. At the same time attracts the focus of other small construction machinery companies on performance appraisal, provides them some references for setting up proper and effective performance appraisal system.
