Human resources, as a driving force for the development of human society, has been receiving more extensive attention by all sectors of society, especially nowadays of the fast developing market economy. After all, human beings can create value directly and for each company, human resources play a vital importance in the fierce market competition. As a result, an appropriate recruitment of talents and proper approaches to train and develop their skills and to motivate their potentials and finally, retention of excellent employees are of top priority in company management. Many measures serve for the above mentioned function but none compares with the effectiveness of salary management. It is a key issue for most companies to determine how to make full use of all functions of salary management to attract employees and motivate their enthusiasm and creativity to the most extent and thus improving the overall efficiency and competence of the company.A food company is a wholly-owned subsidiary of A food group company. Since its foundation in June,2007, the group company has not set a uniform management of general operation of all subsidiaries, which means the subsidiary companies have high level of autonomous right covering almost every aspect including manufacturing, daily operation, performance evaluation and making regulations, etc. The subsidiaries are also very flexible in dealing with daily affairs including making payment portfolios. This allows them quick response and was of great importance to the development in their initial developing stage. But with the growing the company, such problems get exposed to top management as big difference between payment of employees, low motivation and lack of standardization which has severely affected the attraction and retention of excellent talents and even threats the further development of the group company.This thesis intends to make an analysis of the current situation of salary management of A food company combining relative theories and starting from payment theories and scientific design for the purpose of finding what influences the many problems have brought to salary management, which include:lack of motivation and fairness, unclear separation of duties, ambiguous work responsibilities etc. By reevaluating each position value of different kind and by taking corresponding actions, make specific analysis regarding the defects of salary management of A food company and study the optimizing measures that best suits it in order that the company can thrive in the future development.At the meantime, standardize the salary management and update organizational structure correspondingly as per A company’s operational and development strategy with the establishment of position descriptions which provide practical optimization suggestions regarding payment systems of manufacturing operational positions, managerial positions and marketing positions to relieve the negative influences caused by imperfect payment system which leads to high turnover rate, ineffectiveness of management team building and low working efficiency and thus providing powerful support for the sustainable development and the realization of the strategic goals of the company.
