With the rapid growth of economy, acceleration of globalization and changes of market competitive pattern, more and more foreign companies specializing in high technology enter the Chinese market and expand their market shares by establishing new subsidiaries. At the initial stage, due to cultural difference and the companies’own deficiency, they encounter many problems.AMAT Company, one subsidiary of a semiconductor enterprise in China, because of specific characteristics of clients and its lack of project management experience, meets many issues at its early stage, such as project delay for incomprehensive plan, clients’dissatisfaction due to quality issues and high staff turnover because of roper incentives.The paper, based on the theory of project management, takes use of case study by analyzing the features of problems in AMAT Company to make in-depth research and analysis on the current issues. After profound analysis, the reasons for its failure are highlighted in scope management, quality management and staff motivation etc. On the basis of the above factors, three suggestions are raised to solve the problems in enterprise project management, namely: building up detailed feasible project plan, establishing quality management system and establishing a fully trusted authorization and incentive system.The paper develops through factor analysis as well as case study, which presents the obstacles and problems encountered in the preliminary stage of entering the Chinese market, proposes advice and problem-solving methods of project management for such semiconductor companies like AMAT based on the related project management theories and raises certain practical ideas to accelerate the project, motivate employees and increase the satisfaction of clients. By studying and solving the current problems, it can improve the management standards for such project in the future and provides references for other companies in the semiconductor industry.
