Research On The Efficiency Of The Food Industry And The Influencing Factors Of Food Industry

The food industry is related to people’s livelihood,and it is an important basis forpromoting China’s economic development.With the development of society andeconomic, the efficiency of food industry is always steady growing,but there are manyproblems in it.So,it has a realistic meaning to study food industry efficiency to findthe reasons for low-level of Chinese food industry and proposes the practical andfeasible policies.Based on it,many scholars have studied it.But they all force on Greenfood and Grain liquor,so the study on the whole food is deficient.In our study,we useDEA to research the date from2004to2011to find how is the efficiency of foodindustry now.We introduce food and food industry and how is the food industry now;Then westudy the efficiency of food industry from vertical and horizontal based on the relateddate by DEA;Next,we use the model of Tobit to find the influencing factors of theefficiency of food industry;At last,we will give several suggestions to promote theefficiency of food industry.From the whole paper,we can draw the following conclusions:(1) The longitudinal analysis based on different time in EDA model tells us,since1999,Chinese food industry efficiency is gradually improving from0.499to1.Thepure technical efficiency changes a little,and it is always in a high position.In recentyears, the internal and external environment and the high scale efficiency contribute tothe high efficiency.The transverse analysis says,different areas have a big differencein food industry efficiency.The east is always in a high position,but from2009,thecentral area is higher than the east.The best efficiency city is Hainan,and the worst isBejing and Zhejiang.In the center,the best efficiency cities are Henan and Hunan.Inthe west,the best efficiency cities are Chongqing and Guizhou,the worst are Gansuand Guangxi.The influencing factors are different.Some with the rich resources,andsome rely on the policy support.(2) From the Tobit model, the market structure,capital intensity are negative tofood industry efficiency,but the management costs,market sharing and the profitabilityof the business are positively related to food industry.
