Railway has experienced a boom, recession and now is in a new development environment in our country. As traffic volume of railway LCL decreased sharply, railway company put forward freight organization reform in2013. Freight station reopens to handle less-than carload lot(LCL) and put forward higher requirements in the new period. As our country social logistics enterprises developed rapidly, the modern logistics concept and technology had been widely drawn attention and applied, while the disadvantages of railway LCL can’t meet the demand of modern logistics. The operation network of LCL as a carrier of management and flow of goods, plays a decisive role in the influence of freight transportation service quality. In order to adapt to the development trend of modern logistics, we need to optimization design the operation network of railway LCL which has important theoretical significance and practical application value.Taking the idea of modern logistics as a principle and combining the characteristics of railway LCL, this thesis does following research on the operation network of railway LCL, aiming at shorting the transport time, improving the transportation service and enhancing the competitiveness of railway.(1) Studying the evolution of operation network of railway LCL in China, Taking canceling transit business of LCL in2006and the reformation of railway freight organization in2013for important time nodes, this thesis analyzes the three stages’ characteristics and development trend of railway LCL, which provides the basis for network design and optimization.(2) Analysis the influence of modern logistics ideas on our country’s operation network of railway LCL. Based on further study of modern logistics’development, the thesis determines the starting point of network optimization on account of the short of operation network of railway goods. Except that, the thesis also does analysis of the inevitability of optimization design of operation network of railway LCL in order to promote the competitiveness of railway.(3) Optimization designs the operation network of railway LCL. The thesis taking fast response and customer demand meeting as the principle, lays emphasis on the layout of business outlets, designs two phases optimization method by reasonable selection of a number of factors. First the total number of city node demand is determined by two dimensional analysis methods, then the model aiming at the time and economic utility of overall transport demand is established, gets reasonable distribution of network.(4) Optimization design of transport network of railway LCL. First, taking logistics thoroughly and sourcing concentration as the principle, the thesis optimizes the transport network and designs several transport modes of cargo flowing from gate to station. Second, the thesis optimizes the main trunk movement from station to station and lays emphasis on the goods assignment of LCL in order to concentrate the cargos. Third, multi-objective0-1programming model is established aiming at the most economic benefit from cargos to station and the shortest accumulation time on station, the result is determine which direction flows of freight can be handled to which station. At last, the method’s optimization and feasibility is verified through case analysis.
