The Current Development Situation And Thinking About Facility Agriculture In Huazangsi Region Of Tianzhu County, Wuwei City

China’s farm land has been diminishing in the wave of the country’s industrialization and urbanization since21st century, facility agriculture as an intensive-agriculture has gained acceptance and popularization in that this pattern of production is easy to adapt to local conditions, crop properties and the changing demands of market, thus making it a high-yielding, efficient, controllable and sustainable industry. However, whether this farming pattern can be well applied to the arid and semi-arid area in Northwest China rarely receives studies.The present paper tries to work out some new approaches and strategies to promote and improve the facility agriculture in the areas in question. Firstly, the project looks back on the status quo of the farming pattern abroad. In some foreign countries, facility agriculture has completed its standardization, automation and specialization at large with a mature agricultural market where new varieties of crops are developed in a rapid manner. Their products are highly value-added and the management is based on artificial intelligence, internet and digitization. On the other hand, some problems exist in China’s facility agriculture:relatively old and low technology, scarce money to invest in, less mechanisation, much manual work, poor management, less valued-added and unbalanced growth between areas.Secondly, this paper is to make comparisons of and analysis for the facility agriculture performance of a village in Tianzhu Prefecture during the latest3years. The paper concludes that developing facility agriculture is the only way to agriculture modernization, balanced growth and integrity of rural and urban areas of Tianzhu Prefecture, and it is only alternative to make the countryside grow into townships, to help the farmers increase their incomes and to reach sustainable development.Lastly, the author proposes some measures on facility agriculture management to further foster the farming approach to:1) build large first-graded facility agriculture bases.2) establish industrial parks where agricultural products are to be processed.3) construct modernized logistics system and sales networks.4) develop competitive agricultural products whole-sales markets supported by new and high technology.5) to invest more money in research and development, to enhance the sense of brand and strengthen popularization, fostering some leading enterprises, speeding up facility agriculture modernization and promoting farmers’cooperative union.
